turn around and give that big booty a smack

Last night I ran from my apartment, down the West Side Highway and then across the Brooklyn Bridge and back. I think it was about 9 miles overall. (I added an extra mile at the end to make the time I needed.)

I've been wanting to run across the bridge since I moved and it was so awesome. It is really crowded with tourists and couples (barf) but there is a bike lane that you can sort of run all the way to the right of and get past the tourists. So there is a big hill going up the bridge from Manhattan to Brooklyn and FloRida came on my Ipod. I must have had it turned up really loud because some teenager turned around and started cracking up laughing. Sometimes I need to hear 'Get Low' to make it up a big, shitty hill. Then I saw this old couple sitting on a bench together making a toast and drinking out of styrofoam cups from the Super 8 Motel. It was really cute. No, it didn't give me hope. He probably cheated with the babysitter and she probably sent naked pictures of herself to her coworker, BUT it was cute. Overall, good run, the Brooklyn Bridge rules. I think that's my new route.

run, don't walk

And see this movie. All I will say, I don't listen to Fix You by Coldplay because it makes me cry...the movie will make you laugh so hard, you cry and then cry some more. It ruled. If you don't love it, you have no soul.

I'm a magnet

Just saw this dude, the Bachelor from Season 1 walking down 7th Ave. He is about 40 pounds plus than this picture, looks like a dad and seriously looked me up and down and leered, in a dirty old man kinda way. Hahahahaha.

oh no she didn't

Yes, I did.
Serious celebrity sightings today.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Bar Rafaeli passed me on the West Side Highway while I was running!!
Best celeb sighting since I've been in NYC.
Then I saw Isaac and Cohutta from the Real World Sydney on 8th avenue, getting more attention than Leonardo DiCaprio.
Then I saw this other guy whose name I can't remember and it's slowly driving me insane. I thought he was in the Princess Bride or the Neverending Story but I can't find him on IMDB.

On another note, rode 50 miles to Nyack and back today. It was a nice ride. I took the ferry across to Port Imperial and rode up River Road and did the hills in Palisades State Park and then hit 9W to Nyack. I felt like I was riding strong. I think I train better on the bike alone. Less pressure or something. Then I took the A home and ran for an hour on the West Side Highway. Good training day. Tomorrow I will attempt my second 4200 yard swim of the week and hopefully my feet and legs won't cramp and I can actually finish the workout.

UPDATE: Thanks to Allison, the guy I saw who was in the Princess Bride and Clueless was Wallace Shawn.

my luck

Dear MTA Metro Card makers,
I've lived in New York for 6 months and bought 6 month long unlimited ride Metro Cards. This is the second card that I've bought that has BROKEN. How does the card break? The date reverses to expire on 1/1/1990. Everyone I tell says wow, I've heard of that happening but it's never happened to me. Me...twice. That is my luck. Awesome.
2 broken cards out of 6 is bad.
Send me a new one ASAP.

Fuck you very much,
Erin

back in da burg

Quick trip home in pictures
Friday:
Rode 40 miles with Matt and Lock on the Columbia/Iron Girl course and then ran the Columbia Course. Time to start wearing sunscreen. Got burnt as hell but didn't do as bad as I thought. Matt is killing on the bike these days. And we rocked our new Team KY Jerseys.

Friday Evening:
Puppy Party with Allie, Oliver, Henry and Elliott. Warning: The cuteness that is coming up could make you cry.

Henry and Oliver
This jacket made Henry feel fat because it wouldn't button and he had to cry some.
Poor Dougie couldn't do the triple puppy hold because Henry may have some man hating issues. No idea where he got that from.
Pile of puppies!

(all the pictures are stolen from Allie, thanks!)

Saturday AM:
Insane boot camp class with Natalie and then straight to Tiki Tattoo. I was so sweaty and gross that Jason asked me if I ran there from NYC. I probably looked/smelled like it.
I love my tattoo. It's exactly how I pictured it. Jason always does it right.

Saturday PM:
Got my hair did then dinner with Natalie, Brad and Sean. I may or may not have drank one too many hot pink margaritas and the some vodka.

This is my favorite picture of the night. It's not staged.

Cute, right? We "fighted" later and I have tequila face.
Sunday AM:
This is what happens when you buy a baby a donut and a snowball and they a sugar rush.

Sunday PM: Back to the madness.

life blood

Without this I would not make it through the day. One serving + 2 packs of splenda + half a banana and I won't gnaw my arm off with hunger.

P.S. I like the 0% fat better, but all the other skinny vultures at Trader Joe's get to it while the box unpackers are putting it on the shelves. Seriously. I've seen it happen.

what are you scared of?

I decided that people to wear their MetroCards on strings around their necks look like adult latch key kids.

One step closer

To making my apartment look more like a home and less like a dirty, dorm room that an 18 year old boy lives in. New bed and dresser!!!!! Better pictures to come of the bed once I'm done beautifying it with a nice duvet and a bed skirt.

Plastic containers that that survived 3 or 4 moves...thrown out!
There's Voxie's tail. Sometimes I want to throw her ass out too.
